Baby Bins: Thanksgiving

December 1, 2017

We are taking a little break from our color themes to dive into some Thanksgiving themed fun this week. Check out all of our baby approved ideas!

Here is a look at what we have planned for our first 6 seasonal themed baby bins:
Here are the details for each of our Thanksgiving activities:
Thanksgiving Read Aloud:
Aubrey loves all of the books in the “Where is Baby’s…” series. So this week’s Thanksgiving story was Where is Baby’s Turkey by Karen Katz.  She loves all of the flaps to lift, and I love all the Thanksgiving vocabulary it introduces.
Thanksgiving Sensory Bin:
In this bin:
Brown Paper Shreds
Little People Thanksgiving
Cranberries and Water Play:
In our bin: cranberries, water, slotted spoons, cups and bowls
This cranberry sensory bin is the perfect EASY baby bin activity for a Thanksgiving theme. Aubrey loved scooping, dumping and pouring all morning. Even Madelynn couldn’t resist joining in the sensory fun!
Turkey Play Dough:
This chocolate frosting dough is the best and super easy to make! Just mix chocolate frosting and powdered sugar until you get the softest smoothest play dough ever. I don’t even measure it, just keep adding sugar until it’s no longer sticky.
Then I put together this play dough tray for Aubrey to build turkeys with. Here is what I included on our tray: colored feathers, googly eyes, foam beaks and wattles, pipe cleaner legs
Texture Paint Turkey:
For this turkey project we started by painting a paper plate brown.  While that dried we painted each feather different textures by stamping it with different fall materials (pine cones, small branches, and leaf stamps). After all of the pieces dried, we added paper cut outs for the turkey face and attached the feathers behind the paper plate.
Turkey Sticky Window:
For this activity I drew a large turkey body on contact paper, then taped it to a window sticky side out.  Next I gave Aubrey a bin full of colored feathers.  The feathers are easy to remove and reposition, so we this turkey up all weekend.  It made a really great activity for both of my girls to do while I got all of our Christmas decorations out 🙂

  • SOOOO in love with how this bubble paint planet art project turned out. It took us 2 days to finish the 3 step process but I have to say it was totally worth it. ⭐️First, we used bubble paint to blow bubbles onto the paper. ⭐️The next day after the paper dried, we cut the planets out and glued them to a large sheet of black paper. ⭐️Last, we made star stamps with yellow paint and a star cookie cutter.

  • Our little Arabella Brooke is 3 months old today and ready for an amazing 2019. 🥂 ...
She was an angel on her first plane ride this month ✈️ , then refused to sleep all of vacation 😴, is a social butterfly smiling and chatting up anyone who makes eye contact 👶🏻, and she’s still the happiest baby girl ever.
